Welcome, and thank you for looking at how I can help.
My name is Clare Gill and I am a counsellor providing both short and long-term psychotherapy to adult individuals in Hove. I hold the postgraduate degree in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Brighton.
My background has been teaching, most recently yoga and meditation. I’m interested in helping you on a personal level to move through changes and find your way in life. The emphasis in my therapeutic approach is being with the whole of you in the “here and now”.
I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics. Besides practising privately I work as a volunteer counsellor for Macmillan Cancer Care and see patients and family members affected by cancer, giving them space to talk about their concerns, anxieties and stresses around living with cancer.
Making the decision to see a counsellor can feel like a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.
I believe everyone deserves to be seen and heard. Life can be challenging at times; you might feel stuck, lonely or frustrated. You may be encountering relationship difficulties, career problems, bereavement, loss or betrayal, or experiencing anxiety or depression. My role as a counsellor is to support you wherever you are. I hope that together we can build enough trust for you share all your thoughts and emotions. We can work together to discuss steps towards what you want most in your life.
I’d like you to feel comfortable with me and able to bring the whole of you to the counselling sessions: both the things about yourself you like, and the things you struggle with.
I bring my genuine self to you. Together we can explore:
Explore how external factors influence your emotions and well-being, such as societal pressures, culture, and relationships.
Reflect on your core values, beliefs, and experiences to find purpose and fulfillment, aligning your actions with what matters most to you.
Acknowledge and address your fears while pursuing your hopes and dreams in a supportive environment, empowering personal growth and resilience.
